Welcome to AJ Smith Elementary School!

My name is Meghan Mennerich and I am honored to be the Principal here at AJ. As a lifelong resident of Union Springs and a former AJ student, it’s truly an honor to return and lead the school into its next chapter. Living here with my family makes this role even more meaningful, and I’m excited to give back to the place where I began my education.

Our School:

A.J. Smith provides the foundation for about 340 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth.  We utilize the Positivity Project alongside Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to strengthen character and support our students to grow as learners.

Our Goals:

At A.J., our mission is to provide students with a strong foundation for future success. We strive to ensure that every student at A.J. grows both academically and socially-emotionally. We also value a well-rounded education, offering opportunities in the arts, music, and sports that allow students to express themselves creatively, stay active, and learn the importance of teamwork and perseverance.

We also believe in the importance of family engagement. Together with our families, we support each child’s learning journey by creating opportunities to connect through fun and meaningful school events—building a strong, united school community.

Our Community:

The Union Springs community is a strong wolf pack — united and full of pride in all aspects of our schools.  That pride is visible in the support our students receive — in classrooms, on the field, and on stage.  That collective effort helps our students thrive.
